In 1992 Carroll County Memorial Hospital opened a hospital-based Rural Health Clinic to provide additional access to health services and support to residents of Carroll, Trimble and Gallatin County and to all patients including Medicare and Medicaid program members. In 2000 the hospital became a critical access hospital and provides inpatient and skilled and rehabilitation services with 8 full-time medical staff in a 25-bed facility. We also have an occupational medicine program serving over 200 regional industry and a general surgeon providing both inpatient and ambulatory services to area residents. The changing face of our population has necessitated planning for the change in the healthcare needs of this area. The Carroll County Memorial Hospital Board of Directors is actively planning for the next decade of health service needs and looking at what the “next” hospital will look like as the population changes.

When Ozark Health was founded in 1950, the Korean Conflict was underway, a loaf of bread cost 14¢, and Harry Truman was the 33rd President of the United States. In 1963 Van Buren County Hospital qualified for funding to add a 34 bed nursing home. Additional funding was also obtained through a local bond issue. With local and national support the County Hospital was ready for the much needed expansion.

The respiratory department encompasses a variety of services and is now JCAHO accredited for clinical services. This staff of licensed clinicians are on-call 24 hours a day to assist you, so you can be sure to receive the care you need. We can provide oxygen for your breathing assistance, CPAP and Bi-Level machines, as well as apnea monitors, nebulizers, and more. In addition, all of our clinicians are CPR instructors and Wright & Filippis has been fully accredited by JCAHO for clinical respiratory services.

Wright & Filippis has sponsored the Wheelchair Daze Picnic since 1980. This event is a free picnic for people of all ages, with any form of disability and their immediate families.
