Drawing for me, is both a vehicle for understanding and a gestural act unto itself. Recording an experience via drawing embodies much more than an analytical intention. In fact, my drawings aren't very analytical. When I draw historic buildings, they are inacurate in many ways. My drawings are close, but they aren't about detail or proportion. They are about the spirit of a building or a place, and the spirit embedded in the encounter and its translation. Drawing is a way of taking on a place, absorbing it, immersing myself in it.

Dare County's only dedicated rescue squad was originally formed in April of 1980 and chartered August 1983. We currently have 29 members serving a 4 fire-district area with a year round population of roughly 5000 that grows tremendously during the summer months. Our squad provides Rescue, 1st Responder, Water Rescue and Haz-Mat Operations level services with 2 surburbans, 1 light rescue, 1 heavy rescue (featuring a light tower, heavy hydraulics, air compressor and generator) and 4 watercraft. While the rescue squad's purpose was not intended for medical care, there are 2 RN's, 7 first responders, 8 EMT's, 1 EMT-I and 3 EMT-P's in our membership. As of June 1, 2001 we have 7 certified Emergency Rescue Technicians and are working toward satisfying NC Department of Insurance requirements for Heavy Rescue. We should be at Operations levels in all areas of service and Technician levels in vehicle extrication, rope rescue as well as water rescue.

WDAC-FM signed on the air on December 13, 1959 from its studios, transmitter and tower at 683 Lancaster Pike, Route 272 South, Lancaster, PA. The station's founder, evangelist Percy Crawford, Philadelphia, had a daily 30 minute radio broadcast heard coast-to-coast from the early 1930's until his death in 1960. Evangelist Crawford chose Lancaster as one of nine cities where he began radio stations because a Lancaster AM station canceled his contract for morning air time when they disapproved of one of his messages. The station is now owned by Dick and Dan Crawford, sons of the founder, and Paul Hollinger, who retired as Chief Operating Officer on December 31, 2006.

The Saint Francis Emergency Department delivers state-of-the-art, compassionate care for the most injured and ill patients as well as those with less serious injuries and ailments. Over 73, 000 patients are cared for each year and 26-27% of those are admitted for extended care. The facility is designated as a TRAUMA CENTER by the American College of Surgeons and a STROKE CENTER by the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Hospitals. Heart attack (STEMI) patients receive advanced cardiac care, and in combination with the Hoffman Heart Institute, the Emergency Department delivers rapid door to balloon (angioplasty) care. In fact, our speed of delivery is among the fastest in the nation (average door to balloon time [DTB] is 67 minutes and we meet Federal targets of less than 90 minutes 97% of the time).
