The San Diego Blood Bank must collect 400 pints of blood every day in order to meet the needs of area hospital patients who are battling life-threatening blood disorders like aplastic anemia, sickle cell anemia and leukemia, as well as those who need blood during trauma situations. Their stories are very real and their need for blood is ongoing. Please take the time to read about a few of our patients whose lives have been directly affected by volunteer blood donors. You can Make the Most of Your Donation by donating specific blood components like red blood cells, platelets and plasma according to your blood type. The San Diego Blood Bank uses an automated process called apheresis to separate these individual components, which allows for more efficient collection of blood products. For example, the number of platelets collected in one apheresis collection may equal the number collected from 6 to as many as 18 individual whole blood donations.

FL, 32302 TALLAHASSEE, 136 SOUTH BRONOUGH STREET

Florida's foreign visitor and business base is being eroded from unintended consequences of post 9-11 federal immigration and security policy. In cooperation with the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour, Christina's Smile Children's Dental Clinic is a program designed to deliver quality comprehensive charitable dental care to children in need in the communities that host a PGA TOUR and Champions Tour tournament. The Problem: Tooth decay (dental caries) is the most common chronic disease of childhood. For example, 5 times more frequent than asthma. Tooth decay interferes with routine activities in millions of children living in poverty. The suffering of these children includes chronic toothache, searing pain from dental abscesses, disfigured smiles, dysfunctional speech, and eating difficulties. Over 51, 000, 000 school hours are lost each year to dental related illness. Poor children suffer almost 12 times more restricted activity days than children from higher income families.
