Scott started in the steel business working for a major Canadian steel mill and in sales for various steel suppliers in the U.S. during the early eighties. The ''Mill Man Steel'' name originated when Scott was calling on customers, selling tubular goods direct from the steel mills, and his customers began calling him the ''Mill Man''. Surviving the crunch of the oil depression through the mid eighties, Scott and Christine made the decision to start their own tubular products business, recognizing the industry's need for a supplier that would focus not only on product, but value added services.
